LIVERMORE FALLS – Voters will have one candidate in the July 21 special election for selectman.

Joyce Drake of East Livermore turned in her nomination papers just before the 4 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Drake, who has served on the Planning Board and Budget Committee, is seeking the remainder of the term held by Doreen Maheux, who resigned last month for personal reasons.

The term will last about 11 months, as Maheux’s term ends June 30.

Selectmen chose to expedite the election so a full board will be available to make decisions.

The special election will be noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Fire Station.
