FARMINGTON – Journalist and author Colin Woodard will give a reading and sign books at Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15.

Woodard grew up in Strong and has traveled to more than 30 countries. A freelance writer and journalist, he has reported for the Christian Science Monitor, San Francisco Chronicle and Miami Herald. He is the author of “Ocean’s End: Travels Through Endangered Seas.”

Woodard will read from his most recent book, “The Lobster Coast: Rebels, Rusticators, and the Struggle for a Forgotten Frontier,” the story of Maine’s coastal inhabitants. The book traces the history, culture and landscape of the region and examines their effect on people’s lives. The book was one of the top 10 hardcover nonfiction bestsellers at Borders in South Portland the week of July 4.
