LEWISTON – Lizzie Drouin, 89, formerly of Pine Street, Lewiston, died Friday, July 23, at D’Youville Pavillion with her family by her side.

She was born Dec. 15, 1914, in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, a daughter of Joseph and Ida Thibodeau Lavoie, moving to the area in the 1930s.

Lizzie first married Leo Couturier, who passed away in 1945. She later married Leo Drouin, who passed away in 1964.

She started her career as a Rosie Riveter during World War II, and later worked at local shoe shops, retiring from Bates Mill at the age of 62.

She enjoyed playing cards and loved bowling.

She leaves three sons, Roger Couturier of Greene, Raymond Couturier of Turner, and Don Drouin of Auburn; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Rousseau of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Jeannine Cato; a son, David Drouin; daughter-in-law, Lila Couturier; granddaughter, Becky Clough; and 11 brothers and sisters.
