COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) – A fire started by an outdoor barbecue destroyed most of a restaurant complex.

Firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours Saturday afternoon. The Providence Sunday Journal reported that their efforts were hampered by a break in a natural gas line.

The Tiogue Avenue complex included a pizza shop and several other businesses.

Four firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

Robert Seltzer, chief of the Central Coventry Fire District, did not immediately return a call on Sunday seeking comment.
