BOSTON (AP) – Four Boston men were in custody Friday charged with two armed robberies, one of them of a California congresswoman’s press secretary in town for the Democratic National Convention.
The four men are charged with robbing the 48-year-old press secretary of Rep. Juanita Millinder-McDonald, D-Calif., in the city’s South End. The man, whose name was not released, told police the thieves flashed a gun at him and stole $460 cash and a cellular phone around 1 a.m. Friday. Police located the suspects a few blocks away and arrested them.
Another Boston man and a North Carolina man also reported being robbed early Friday at knifepoint on a nearby street.
They said a group of men stole their wallets and cell phones.
The four suspects include Luis Angel Juarbe, 17, Jonathan M. Jaquez-Vasquez, 20, Luis Felipe Ortiz-Perez, 18, and Iromi M. Arias-Gonzalez, 18.
A call to Millinder-McDonald’s Washington went unanswered. Her California office was unaware of the incident.
