LEWISTON – Marcel A. Labbe, 69, of 378 Central Ave., died suddenly Friday, July 30, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on April 16, 1935, the son of Arthur “KO” and Yvette Vincent Labbe.

He was a United States Marine veteran, having served in the Lebanon Crisis.

He was a sheet metal worker for 40 years and was active in the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union #17 out of Boston, where he served as an officer on the executive board, and the former Local Union #545 in Lewiston.

He was a member of Holy Family Church; and was a member of various clubs in the Lewiston/Auburn area, including Le Passe-Temps Club.

Marcel enjoyed auto racing, boxing, and collecting antique automobiles. He also loved to travel across the country with his wife Sylvia in their motorhome.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Marquis) Labbe, of Lewiston, whom he married on June 30, 1956; two sons, Michael A. Labbe of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Thomas A. Labbe and his fianc, Anne Beaudry, both of Lewiston; one grandson, Lucas Labbe of Auburn; two sisters, Juliette Cote and her husband Fernand of Lewiston, and Muriel Bureau and her husband Marcel of Auburn; one brother, Richard Labbe and his wife Theresa of Lewiston.
