TURNER – Kenneth Roberts has been nominated by voters in the Democratic Party to be their candidate for the District 96 seat in the Maine House of Representatives. The district comprises the towns of Hebron, Minot and Turner.

Roberts said that guaranteeing a voice at the State House for the residents of the three towns would be a primary goal of his service.

Roberts, 71, is an adjunct instructor and tutor at Central Maine Community College in Auburn. He previously worked as a service coordinator for the elderly in subsidized housing in eight Maine communities, including Auburn. Before that he worked for the Maine Municipal Association, where he wrote “Local Government in Maine,” a school textbook and civics resource.

“Primarily, I want to make sure the residents of the three towns in District 96 have their voices heard on the important issues before the Legislature,” Roberts said.

He listed his priorities as a clean, safe environment; true tax reform that establishes a tax system that is fair and reasonable; providing an affordable, quality education at all levels; advocating for the elderly and affordable prescription medications; success for Dirigo Health Care; saving Maine’s farms; and keeping jobs and “brains” in Maine.

Roberts said he would attempt to greet all voters at their doorsteps between now and Nov. 2, but he encourages residents to contact him with their opinions on matters of concern.

He may be reached at 225-2644; by mail at 26 Oakwood Drive, Turner, 04282; and by e-mail at [email protected].
