LINCOLN, N.H. (AP) – A Maine man was killed in a collision with a van on the scenic Kancamagus Highway.

Peter Williams, 63, of Pittsfield was pronounced dead at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth Saturday afternoon.

Williams was heading east when he crossed the center line at a sharp curve near the Hancock overlook and collided with the Chrysler van, state police said. A passenger in the van suffered minor injuries, but police did not release the passenger’s identity.

The Kancamagus Highway travels through the heart of the White Mountain National Forest.

and features many scenic overlooks and hiking trails. It is heavily traveled by tourists during the summer months.
