BIDDEFORD – Roland R. Fortier, 71, of 209 Nobles Lane Old Orchard Beach, died Friday, Aug. 13, at the Southern Maine Medical Center.

Born in Lewiston, March 19, 1933, a son of Pierre and Antoinette (Gagnon) Fortier and was educated in Lewiston schools.

Mr. Fortier was a former member of Holy Cross Parish and received the Purple Heart award for his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Disable American Veterans and enjoyed golfing and working out at the gym.

He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Old Orchard for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, of 43 years, the former Lorraine A. Bolduc, of Old Orchard Beach, whom he married July 3, 1961; his daughters, Diane Ouellette, Gizelle Leger and her husband, Dennis, all of Manchester, N.H.; a son, Denis Beaudry, and his wife, Patricia, of Evans, G.A.; his grandchildren, Crystel Chase, Trina Galvin, Daniel Beaudry, Kenneth & Nicole Ouellette, Christina McDonough, Stephen Ouellette and Scott Leger; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Gerry Fortier, and Lionel and his wife, Jeannette Fortier, all of Connecticut.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Robert Fortier.
