PARIS – A workshop on pesto, in which Amy LeBlanc will offer secrets on fresh pestos, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 23, at the McLaughlin Foundation, 97 Main St., South Paris. Breakfast, sale

PARIS – A blueberry pancake breakfast and blueberry bake sale will be offered from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Deering Memorial Methodist Church at Church and Main streets. The menu includes sausage and bacon. The bake sale will be of all things blueberries. Breakfast is $4.

Seed workshop

SUMNER – A workshop on saving seeds will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Hedgehog Hill Farm, Hedgehog Hill Road. Learn how to gather, dry and store a variety of seeds. Included will be tips for cultivated and wild plant propagation. Free admission. Bring a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon. For information phone 388-2341.

Crop Walk today

HARRISON – The 20th annual Harrison-North Bridgton Crop Walk for World Hunger will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, starting at the Calvary Community Church United Parish on Main Street in Harrison. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. In case of heavy rain it will be held Saturday, Aug. 28.

Some will walk to the North Bridgton Congregational Church on Route 37 and back, a five-mile walk, but shorter routes are available.

Twenty-five percent of the proceeds are returned to the sponsoring community. This year they will benefit the Food Pantry in Harrison.

REACH auction

NORWAY – Rape Education and Crisis Hotline will hold its second annual Blackberry Art Auction and Jazz Tea at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Deertrees Theatre & Cultural Center in Harrison.

Viewing will be held at 11 a.m.. The concert and tea are at noon, and the auction at 1 p.m. The auction exclusively offers works of local artists.

The Jazz Tea features the Denny Breau Trio. Area chefs and bakers in collaboration with SlowFood Western Maine will create a display of morsels for a late morning tea before the auction.

All proceeds from the event support REACH, which crisis response, prevention education and healing and recovery support services for victims and survivors of sexual assault and abuse and their families and supporters.
