CORNISH (AP) – York County’s third all-terrain vehicle crash in recent months has claimed the life of a Biddeford man.

Brian Allie, 22, was killed Friday night when his ATV apparently missed a corner on the Hession Hill Road, went off the pavement and landed on top of him, investigators said Sunday.

Allie took off on the machine while with a group of friends at a camp in Parsonsfield, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the state Public Safety Department. When he failed to return, friends began a search but could not find him.

A search the next morning by wardens, sheriff’s deputies and state police found Allie beneath his overturned ATV.

State troopers were investigating the crash, and McCausland said a blood-alcohol test was planned. “We think alcohol is going to be a factor,” he said.

Allie was riding along a public road, where ATVs are not permitted, McCausland said. ATV drivers can legally cross public roads but not ride along them.

In all three of the recent York County ATV fatalities, the driver was riding on the road, the spokesman said.
