Angels 10, Indians 5

CLEVELAND – Troy Glaus homered for the first time since May 11, and Garret Anderson and Bengie Molina also hit home runs to power the Anaheim Angels past the Cleveland Indians 10-5 to snap a three-game losing streak.

Glaus homered on the first pitch of the sixth inning to give Anaheim a 6-0 lead. He was playing in his fifth game since missing three months because of surgery on his right shoulder.

Anderson homered in the fifth and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Angels, who won for the 11th time in 15 games. Cleveland has lost 14 of 18.

Anaheim remained four games behind first-place Oakland in the AL West and 41/2 games behind Boston in the wild-card race.

Kelvim Escobar (9-9) pitched 6 2-3 innings, giving up four runs and eight hits to improve to 4-1 in his last six starts. He walked four and struck out two.

Molina hit a three-run homer in the fourth when Anaheim finally broke through against Scott Elarton (3-4).

The Angels put their first two batters aboard three times in the opening four innings. Elarton got out of two-on, none-out jams in the first and third, but could not do it a third time.

Anderson and Jose Guillen opened the fourth with singles. After right fielder Jody Gerut robbed Vladimir Guerrero of an extra-base hit, Molina lined a 1-1 pitch to left for his 10th homer and a 3-0 lead.

Cleveland also failed twice to convert two-on, none-out situations in the first four innings.

Travis Hafner hit a two-run homer in the sixth, his 25th, to make it 6-2. He went 2-for-4 and is hitting .636 (14-for-22) with seven homers and 16 RBIs against Anaheim this season.

Anderson had an RBI single off reliever Cliff Bartosh and another run scored on a double play to make it 8-2 in the seventh.

After Escobar left with two outs and two on in the seventh, Brendan Donnelly gave up a two-run double to Matt Lawton and an RBI single to Victor Martinez.

Elarton, who began the season 0-6 at Colorado, fell to 3-10 overall. He pitched his first career shutout Sunday against the Chicago White Sox, but gave up six runs and 10 hits over six innings in his first career appearance against Anaheim. He struck out four without a walk.

Rafael Betancourt balked home a run in the ninth and Jeff DaVanon followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 10-5.
