PARIS – Parenting through separation or divorce will be the topic of a workshop series offered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Oxford County.

The five-part series will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 23 and 30 and Oct. 7, 14 and 21 at the Extension Office, Olson Road, South Paris.

“Kids are typically hit the hardest when couples separate,” said Wendy Legg Pollock, Extension educator and leader of the workshop. “This workshop will help parents to better understand the effects of separation/divorce on themselves and their children, and to support their kids through this difficult transition.”

Parenting Through Separation and Divorce will focus on helping children, what they need and don’t need; moving from conflict to cooperation; and communicating effectively, getting through the anger, jealousy and revenge.

There is no cost, but participants must preregister by calling the Extension Office by Friday, Sept. 17, at 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482.
