WARWICK, R.I. – Christopher Bannister, chairman of the Automotive Technology, Auto Body Technology and Marine Technology Departments at New England Institute of Technology, reminds high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a post-secondary education in automotive technology that scholarships are available to offset the cost of a college education.

Two scholarships are announced. The first is Car Care Council Women’s Board Scholarship Program. The Car Care Council Women’s Board will award a $1,000 scholarship and two $500 scholarships to female students who have completed at least one year in an ASE-certified, post-secondary automobile technology program and two $500 scholarships to high school female students who will attend an ASE-certified, post-secondary automobile technology program.

Students should visit women.carcare.org and click on the “WB Scholarship” link in the menu on the left to download applications. Return applications by mail to the Car Care Council to the attention of Women’s Board Scholarship, 4600 East-West Highway, Suite 300, Bethesda, Md. 20814-3415. For more information, e-mail [email protected].

The second scholarship is the 2005 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium. The program is funded from the net proceeds of the symposium. Scholarships of $1,000 are awarded to high school graduates who are enrolling in a college’s automotive program. As a bonus, a matching grant is available to scholarship recipients who become technicians in the automotive aftermarket.

More information on the program, along with an application, can be found at www.automotivescholarships.com. All applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2005.
