ANDOVER – The Mahoosuc Land Trust will hold an informational meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Andover Public Library to outline steps being taken to preserve the top of Whitecap Mountain for recreational use. Everyone who enjoys using the area for recreation is invited to attend.
Scrapbooking
RUMFORD – Region 9 will hold scrapbooking hands-on workshops to turn photos and memorabilia into a keepsake album. The following sessions will be offered:
School Days and Pocket Pages, Region 9, Thursday, Oct. 7.
Halloween/Harvest Time and Fold-Out Pages, Wednesday, Oct. 20.
Deck the Halls with Holiday Pages, Region 9, Wednesday, Nov. 3.
Participants will complete pages using new techniques or make page enhancements for albums at home. Bring six to eight photos of a related theme. All other materials and tools will be provided. Beginners are welcome to any class.
Classes will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and limit is eight. Deanne Rothwell is the instructor and the fee is $12.
Antique restoration
RUMFORD – Shawn McLean, professional antique restorer of fine period antiques, will offer a hands-on antique restoration class in Region 9. He will have finished pieces and others that are in the process of restoration.
McLean has restored many pieces, which have been featured in the magazine, Antiques. In addition, many of his pieces have been displayed in auction galleries. All work will be done with hand tools.
The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 21 to Oct. 26, for six weeks at the Region 9 Learning Center. The tuition is $30.
Bridge results
RUMFORD – Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club results are announced. There were five tables at the Sept. 16 game. Winners were: first, Jean and Stan Sotman; second, Anna Cormier and Woody Mercier; third Allan Bradford and Charlene Farwell; fourth, Ozzie and Donna Swett.
