OXFORD – The selectmen awarded four contracts, two for transfer station work and two for recycling building projects, late last week. Building Solutions of Oxford offered the only bids and was awarded all four jobs.

The transfer station projects are repairs to the overhead door at the oversized bulky waste building at a cost of $2,533, and building a universal waste storage room for no more than $6,900.

Earlier this month, interim Town Manager Sharon Jackson informed the board that the community was awarded a $6,500 grant for the project. Any amount above $6,500 will be paid by the community.

The recycling building projects are building a restroom addition on the end of the recycling building for no more than $5,400 and repairing damage to the window wall for recyclables and the back wall of that building. The repair calls for pouring a 4-foot concrete wall at the base of each wall in both locations for no more than $5,800.

In other business, the board approved spending $2,820.08 from the VIP donation to buy chairs for the town manager, selectmen and the conference room last week. Jackson, who presented the request, said she plans to use some of the money for tables for the selectmen’s meeting room. Police Chief Ron Kugell and Fire Chief Fred Knightly recommended the use of the money.
