LISBON FALLS – Walter F. Lawton, 74, of Summer Street, died Sunday, Oct. 3, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavale, Md.

He was born July 22, 1930, in Millbury, Mass., the son of Walter H. and Mabel E. Pelletier Lawton.

He graduated from Northbridge High School, Class of 1950.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He married Alice E. Varney on Feb. 7, 1952 in Brunswick. Mr. and Mrs. Lawton have lived in Lisbon Falls since 1971.

He was employed at Pejepscot Paper Company for nine years, and was a manager at Aubuchon Hardware in Putnam, Ct., and Lisbon Falls. He later was employed at K-Mart in Falmouth for 21 years, retiring in 1992. He was a former crossing guard in Lisbon Falls.

He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, horse racing, and was an all-around sports fan.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 158, Lisbon.

Besides his wife of Lisbon Falls, he is survived by two sons, Randal F. Lawton, and his wife, Marcia, of Durham, and Michael A. Lawton, and his wife, Kim, of Durham; a daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Morton, of Lisbon Falls; a special friend, Karen Staples; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
