FARMINGTON – Lyndon S. Hayford, 92, of Canton Road Livermore, died at the Edgewood Rehabilitation Center on Oct. 12.

He was born on May 9, 1912, in McAdam, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Charles and Nina (Sherman) Hayford and was educated in New Brunswick schools as well as in Canton, Livermore, South Paris and Howe’s Corner schools.

He had worked as a woodsman most of his life, as a milk man in Livermore, and later in life he picked apples and ran a crew at Leavitt Orchards for many years, retiring in 1987.

He was a 4-H leader for several years.

He married Gertrude Gammon on July 15, 1939; she died July 1, 1999.

He liked to go camping, fishing and hunting, especially with his wife, and he loved to take pictures.

He would make numerous visits to Bear Pond Variety for coffee and to socialize. He always said “I like all my friends.”

He was a 59-year member and past master of the Whitney Lodge 167 AF & AM.

He is survived by three sons, Russell Hayford and his wife, Lee, of Livermore, Lyndon Hayford and his wife, Jo-Ann, of Hartford and Arthur Hayford and his wife, Mary, of Livermore; five grandchildren, Carmen Hayford, of Livermore Falls, Steven Hayford and his wife, Leah, of Livermore, Amy Knox and her husband, Brian, of Peru, Bobbi New and her husband, Scot, of Rumford and Terry Hayford, of Hartford; and seven great-grandchildren, Brianna Allen and Isabella Randall, both of Livermore Falls, Courtney Knox and Scott Knox, both of Peru, Zachery New, of Rumford, and Abby Hayford and Cole Hayford, both of Livermore.

He was predeceased by his wife, of 64 years, Gertrude, his parents, and two sisters, Gladys Punch and Lottie Cummings.
