CUMBERLAND – Marie E. Blanchard Wilson, 76, died on Oct. 15, at home.

She was born March 1, 1928, in Portland, the daughter of Donald Douglas and Elizabeth Dow Blanchard on March 1, 1928.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed having her family around her; whether traveling to explore new places, or for casual but rather large family cookouts.

She very much enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found doing yardwork, gardening, or just taking the time to enjoy some beautiful flowers that she happened across.

She was very fond of the peacefulness of water, and often spoke of perhaps getting a lakeside home. Instead, she contented herself with swimming whenever she could, or traveling to beaches and collecting seashells.

Another favorite pastime was yardsaling. Everyone in the family, from youngest to oldest benefited at sometime from one of her finds.

She is survived by nine children, Anne Dionne, Gary Wilson, Lynda Jensen, Jeffrey Wilson and Laura Willis, all of Cumberland, Stephen Wilson, of Harrison, Donna Searles, of Poland Spring, Nancy Latham, of Gray and Susan Wilson, of Portland; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and three on the way; two sisters, Jean Griffin, of Westbrook and Donna Pesce, of Saco; two brothers, Donald Blanchard and Jon Blanchard, both of Portland.

She was predeceased by her husband, James H. Wilson, and her son, James D. Wilson.
