LEWISTON – Veterans’ organization members and the public are invited to attend memorial services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in Veterans Memorial Park for Marines and Navy personnel killed by terrorists.

There were 241 Marines and Navy personnel killed by terrorists as they slept in their barracks in Lebanon on Oct. 23, 1983, and 17 crew members died on the U.S.S. Cole when the terrorists detonated a bomb while the Cole was at a refueling dock in Yemen, Aden, Oct. 12, 2000.

The program will open with singing of the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance by those assembled. The Rev. Donald L. Miller, commander (ret.), Navy Chaplain Corps, will give the invocation.

Reading will be offered by Past Commandant Roland Cyr, Central Marine Corps League, President Jerry DerBoghosian, U.S.S. Canberra Association.

The program will close with the singing of the Marine Corps Hymn and Navy Hymn, “Taps” and “God Bless America” by the assembly.
