As an educator, I am asking the residents of Lewiston to re-elect Congressman Mike Michaud, state Sen. Peggy Rotundo and state Rep. Elaine Makas.

These true-to-their-word representatives of Lewiston have been steadfast in their beliefs that education is important to our community and should be free from unfunded mandates, such as No Child Left Behind.

Congressman Michaud has worked tirelessly in the House of Representatives to force Congress to adequately fund the mandates of this law.

Sen. Rotundo and Rep. Makas have voted for a bill in the Maine Legislature preventing any state money from paying for the federal government’s financial responsibility to Maine’s schools.

They have worked as a team of legislators along with state Sen. Douglass, state Reps. LaFontaine-O’Brien, Craven, Walcot, Sampson, Simpson and Mailhot as an orchestrated voice fighting in both Washington and Augusta for the cities of Lewiston and Auburn.
