AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Breakfast Club has launched a new fund-raising activity to support its charitable giving program. The Trip of the Month drawing will award one of 12 vacations each month beginning in December.

To win, participants purchase a ticket for $150 from a member of the Auburn-Lewiston Club; only 350 tickets will be sold. Then, beginning on Dec. 1, one ticket will be drawn for a vacation, including transportation from Boston or Portland where applicable, lodging and $250 spending money for one of 12 destinations. Winning tickets will be eligible for future drawings.

Destinations include Bermuda, Myrtle Beach, Paris, New York City, Jamaica, Disneyworld, Las Vegas, London, California Wine Country, the Bahamas, Park City, Utah, and a Caribbean cruise. Winners may take the trip they win or a travel voucher for an equivalent amount.

The value of the prizes range from $1,425 to $2,290. In addition to the Trip of the Month, two winners each month will receive a refund of the purchase price of their ticket – and still be eligible for future drawings.

“With all of the opportunities to win, ticket holders have one chance in 10,” said Sherwood Moody, president and CEO of Mechanics Savings Bank and president of the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Breakfast Club. “Besides, the money we raise will go to support area charities and our international programs to help the neediest people.”

Each year the Auburn-Lewiston club gives more than $15,000 to local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and the Good Shepherd Food Bank, as well as international projects, including Kay Espwa, a school and orphanage in Haiti run by Lewiston native, Father Marc Boisvert.
