MEXICO – The Mexico Mothers Club will meet at noon Thursday, Oct. 28, at the home of Gwen Ferland. Members are being reminded to bring two small wrapped prizes. Diane Stanley, leader for the meeting, will conduct a Cootie game.
Friends elect
RUMFORD – Friends of Library launched its second year with the annual October meeting and election of officers. Elected were president, Vicki Fimiani; vice president, Andra Beauchesne; secretary, Anne Wood; and treasurer, Joe Sassi.
New members are welcome and may pick up membership forms at the front desk in the library.
The September tag/bake/book sale was a successful fund-raiser and an active community event. Friends appreciated the involvement from community members and groups who contributed items and attended the sale. Other fund-raisers are being planned to enable special purchases for the library.
Part of the stated mission of Friends of Library is to build a partnership with the community and to advocate for quality library service for all area residents. As an advocacy and fund-raising group, Friends of Library promotes the library and provides support through gifts, volunteerism and public activities.
The major public event of 2004 was the centennial celebration in May. More information will follow on planned events for the coming year.
