AUGUSTA – Robin Zinchuk of Bethel has been appointed to the Maine Tourism Commission, according to an announcement made by Dann H. Lewis, director of the Maine Office of Tourism, a division of the Department of Economic and Community Development.

“Robin has a tremendous amount of hands-on experience in the state tourism industry,” Lewis said. “I know that her current and past leadership positions will make her a valuable addition to the commission.”

Zinchuk, who will represent the Maine Lakes and Mountains Region, has served as the executive director of the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce since 1986. She is the current president of the Maine Lakes and Mountains Tourism Council, a member of the Mountain Counties Heritage Network Advisory Committee and was a member of the Maine Film Commission from 1999 to 2002.

In 1984, Zinchuk founded the Chapman Inn Bed & Breakfast and operated the business until 1998. A 2000 graduate of the Leadership Maine Program, Zinchuk has been active with the Leadership Maine Advisory Committee of the Maine Development Foundation. The Maine State Chamber of Commerce recognized Zinchuk as its Chamber Executive of the Year in 1996, and she also has been named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.

With her husband, Doug, Zinchuk co-owns Doug Zinchuk Carpentry and Zinchuk Cottage rentals. They reside in Bethel and are the parents of four sons.
