ORONO, Maine – Anton Clarkson passed for 408 yards and two touchdowns Saturday and also ran for the game-winning score in the third quarter as Hofstra defeated Maine 31-20.

Wide receivers Charles Sullivan (8 catches-204 yards) and Devale Ellis (8-92 yards) were Clarkson’s favorite targets as the Black Bears had no answer for the Pride passing game.

Hofstra (5-4, 3-3) took a 10-0 lead, but Maine (5-4, 2-4) fought back with three touchdowns in the second, two coming off big defensive plays, to take a 20-17 halftime lead.

Arel Gordon scored on a blocked punt return from two yards out and a Jermaine Walker interception set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Marcus Williams with just five seconds left in the half.

Williams also added a 14-yard score early in the second and rushed for 73 yards, but came up 34 yards short in his bid to become the Black Bears’ all-time leading rusher.

Isaac Irby added a late touchdown for Hofstra in the fourth quarter, his second of the game.

Maine Maritime 41, Framingham St. 7

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Patrick Bard ran for 103 yards and a touchdown and also threw a touchdown pass on Saturday to lift Maine Maritime to a 41-7 win over Framingham State.

Bard scored on a 17-yard run and threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Cody Schmidt in the second quarter as Maine Maritime (3-6) took a 21-0 halftime lead. Scott Labbe scored on runs of 20 and 61 yards in the third quarter.

Michael Cannistraro scored on a 7-yard run for Framingham State (0-9) in the fourth quarter.

Colby 17, Tufts 3

SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Chris Bashaw had two third-quarter touchdowns to lead Colby to a 17-3 victory over Tufts on Saturday.

Colby (2-5, 2-5 NESCAC) let Tufts (5-2, 5-2) past the 50-yard line just twice in the entire game, and had nine sacks.

Colby led 3-0 at the half on a 26-yard field goal by John Goss at 10:31 of the second quarter. Colby built its lead with Bashaw’s touchdowns on its first two possessions of the second half.

Phil Scialdoni got the only points for Tufts on a 43-yard field goal with 14:07 left in the game.
