Spaghetti supper
WILTON – Wilton Boy Scout Troop 518 is holding a holiday wreath sale to raise funds for the Scouts to attend the Boys Scouts of America National Jamboree in Washington, D.C. The wreaths are now available at Main Street Garage, or may be obtained by calling 645-4150. The troop will also sponsor a spaghetti supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on High Street. Funds raised from the supper will also benefit their trip to Washington.
Hospital tree
FARMINGTON – The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will once again sponsor a Remembrance Tree at the hospital entrance that will be lit throughout the holiday season. Bulbs can be purchased in memory of, or in honor of one or more individuals. Proceeds will benefit the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The dedication and lighting ceremony of the Remembrance Tree will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1. Caroling will also take place and refreshments will be served. The public is invited. To order a bulb, people may send the name of the person a bulb is to be “in memory of” or “in honor of” to Pam Kenniston, P.O. Box 104, Strong, ME 04983. People requesting bulbs are asked to enclose a check, payable to the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, for the total bulbs checked. Each bulb is $5. Forms to order bulbs can also be picked up in the hospital’s gift shop.
Resource depot
FARMINGTON – Everyone’s Resource Depot will observe its 25th year of operation with open houses from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, and from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 4. Community friends and business donors are welcome to visit the Depot, which is in the Franklin Hall basement on the University of Maine at Farmington campus. Bean supper
NEW SHARON – A take-out bean supper will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the New Sharon Congregational United Church of Christ on the Cape Cod Hill Road. The meal includes a quart of baked beans, a pint of coleslaw, yeast rolls or brown bread and a whole homemade pie for $12. People may reserve a meal by calling Leona at 778-3812 or Mary at 778-2366. On the day of pickup, they may be reached by calling the church at 778-2517.
Greenwood plans
FARMINGTON – The Farmington/Wilton Chamber of Commerce is making plans this year for the 28th annual Chester Greenwood Day to be held Saturday, Dec. 4. The parade begins at 11 a.m. sharp at Mallett School, with lineup starting at 10 a.m. and judging of entries at 10:30 a.m. Following the raising of the Chester Greenwood flag at the Superior Court Building, the Chamber will serve cake and chili in the gazebo of Meetinghouse Park. There will be a $100 cash prize for this year’s winning chili entry. The Titcomb House will be open that day for a viewing of Greenwood memorabilia along with the Festival of Trees at the Granary during the day. Members of the Polar Bear Club will also make their annual dip into Clearwater Lake around 3 p.m. People interested in participating or obtaining more information may call the Chamber office at 778-4215.
Health screening
RANGELEY – In support of the Giving Tree of Rangeley, a metabolism screening will be held from noon to 1:30 and from 5 to 6:30 on Monday, Dec. 6, at the Rangeley Rehab and Wellness Pavilion. The event also provides a chance for people to talk with Sandy River, a nationally known licensed acupuncturist and speaker on wellness issues.
Christmas concert
WILTON – A Christmas concert is scheduled at the next Western Mountain Women’s Connection to be held Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Boiler Room Restaurant on Main Street. Paulie Heath, a songwriter and recording artist from Augusta, will be the special speaker and musician. Heath has produced four recording projects and is currently working on her fifth CD. There are two opportunities to attend. Lunch is from 11:30 to 1:15 and dinner is from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $11, which includes gratuity and tax.
