AUBURN – Director Richard Martin is still casting some roles for men in “Inherit the Wind,” which will be presented by Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre on Jan. 7 to 16 in the Great Falls Performing Arts Center.
Martin is still casting for cameos for men with one or two lines. There are also many non-speaking roles for men to be filled as jurors, reporters, townspeople and vendors. Men interested in these roles are being asked to call 783-1828 and leave their name and phone number.
The play is based on the trial of Bertram Cates, a young teacher in Hillsboro, Tenn., who was arrested for teaching Darwin’s theory of evolution. Popularly known as the “Scopes Monkey Trial,” the play is a fictionalized version, with names changed, written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee who drew from the trial’s transcripts.
