PORTLAND – Celtic harpists Deborah Friou and Julia Lane will present a yuletide concert at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, in the St. Lawrence Arts and Community Center, 76 Congress St.

This will be their only Maine concert of this season.

Friou of Brunswick has devoted 25 years to the revival of the Celtic harp, through performance, six books of harp arrangements and two solo recordings of Renaissance and Celtic music.

Her publications are sold worldwide. She has performed and taught workshops at harp and traditional music festivals throughout the United States and in Scotland.

She now performs on both nylon-strung and wire-strung harp, and teaches at the Celtic Harp Studio in Brunswick.

Lane of Round Pond, an accomplished vocalist, accompanied herself with guitar for many years until she had the opportunity to play the Celtic harp.

With her unique self-taught style she has won several international competitions. She and Fred Gosbee perform as the duo Castlebay. They have toured the East Coast, as well England Scotland and Ireland, and have recorded several albums of both Celtic and original music.

Admission is $12 for general admission and $8 for senior citizens and children.
