Dear Sun Spots: I run a piano studio here in Lewiston, have for three years now, and have students ages 7 to 70. Once they have learned the full spectrum of the basics of mastering the piano, I teach them only what mode of music they wish to learn. It amazes me how many want to learn Billy Joel’s music so any information you may find for me about it is most graciously appreciated.

Secondly, my husband and I attend the Greek Festival each year, and my husband likes to wear the Greek fisherman hat. This year they forgot to order them, and we’ve been trying to find a supplier from which to buy one. We went to Camden where there is a shop that usually has them but no luck. The black wool ones are available in catalogs but no other material, such as corduroy or cotton cloth. I’d like to get him one in blue, beige or some other color. I hope you may be able to help. – No Name, Lewiston.

Answer: In answer to your first question, Sun Spots located a Billy Joel piano sheet music book called “Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 and 2.” It is approximately 150 pages and costs $17.95. The book can be purchased at Carroll’s Music Center, 160 Center St., Lewiston, 782-2545.

In regards to locating a Greek fisherman hat in the color and fabric you’re looking for, Vicki Toppses, presvytera of the Greek Orthodox Church, 155 Hogan Road, Lewiston, said that their church bookstore would be happy to special order one for you. The hat is available in light blue or tan denim and also in the traditional black or navy blue wool in sizes 6 7/8 to 7¾. The hat costs $20. You may contact the church at 783-6795, ask for Julia.

In addition, Julia mentioned that the next Greek Festival in Lewiston-Auburn will be held the second weekend in September 2005. This past festival, they regretfully were unable to provide Greek fishing hats since their supplier didn’t have any in stock. However, they will do their best to have enough hats for next year’s celebration. Sun Spots would urge you and other readers interested in this style of hat to check out the festival.

Dear Sun Spots: About 1950, at Rangeley High School, I had a marvelous teacher, Pauline Caouette, who I think was from the Lewiston-Auburn area. She may now have a married name or might have moved to another area. I would greatly like to reach her to thank her. Does anyone know of her whereabouts today? – Jay Hoar, Temple.
