RUMFORD – Abbott Farm Plaza will again be on the selectmen’s agenda Thursday.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Building.
Town Manager Robert Welch said the board will decide whether to repair portions of the roof over the former Ames Department Store. He said an inspection revealed a leak around the ventilation area of the roof. Money was set aside to maintain or repair the complex when the former owners turned over the complex to the town.
Since then, Massachusetts businessman Peter Hatzis has agreed to purchase the complex and the surrounding 78 acres, provided he can find two anchor businesses to move in. He has asked for the repair work.
Local businesswoman Carol Parise is also on the agenda to discuss how the town sold the complex.
Before the regular meeting, the board will hold a public hearing to receive comment on the town’s participation in the Oxford County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. Selectmen are expected to act on it during the regular meeting.
Welch said adoption of the plan is necessary for the town to qualify for Federal Emergency Management Agency funds whenever a natural disaster occurs in the town.
Among the areas specifically targeted are portions of Route 120, the bank of the Swift River, Swain Road, Mount Zircon Dam, and the access road to Milligan’s well.
