RUMFORD – District residents will have one more chance to ask questions or voice concerns about a possible elementary school restructuring at Monday’s SAD 43 board meeting.

Superintendent Jim Hodgkin will also give a report on the sentencing of a former athletic director, and update the board on embezzled funds that are to be returned.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, in the library of Mountain Valley High School.

Administration has been looking into ending the use of Virginia Elementary School as a kindergarten-through-grade-5 school.

Students would be sent to either Meroby or Rumford elementary school, and Virginia Elementary School could become the site for the district’s alternative education and day treatment programs.

The SAD 43 board will take an official vote on the possible change at its Jan. 18 meeting.

Hodgkin will inform the board of the $86,846 that former athletic director Tim McInnis was directed to repay the district in restitution as part of his sentencing.

Hodgkin said he, high school Principal Bruce Lindberg and current athletic director John Bernard will put together a plan for how the funds could be used.

Also on the agenda is a request by the high school civil rights team to travel to Washington D.C., in March and the establishment of an ad hoc committee to study the possibility of building a small addition onto the high school for fitness equipment and its use.

The first reading of a policy defining the duties of the Personnel Committee is expected to be acted on.

Committee reports and at least one appointment will be made.
