AUBURN – Tim Pinkham, director for Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre’s March 11-26 production of “Meshuggah-Nuns,” will hold auditions for the show Jan. 9 and 10.

Auditions will begin at 7 p.m. in the Great Falls Performing Arts Center on Academy Street.

“Meshuggah-Nuns,” written by the same playwright, Dan Goggin, who wrote the popular “Nunsense” series, combines Jewish and Catholic humor in a musical madcap.

When the USS Golden Delicious World Cruise Ship hits choppy seas, Tevye is the only cast member of the ship’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof” who is well enough to perform for an audience.

He teams up with Reverend Mother and the Sisters of Hoboken, are on board because they won a vacation cruise.

Roles to be cast are:

n Sister Mary Regina (Reverend Mother), the mother superior of the Little Sisters of Hoboken. She is a real Sophie Tucker type, with a big belting voice and a personality to match.

n Sister Mary Hubert (Mistress of Novices) has a gospel/rock singing voice.

n Sister Robert Anne is a streetwise nun from Brooklyn. She has a good belting voice and feels that she has real theatrical potential.

n Sister Mary Paul (aka Amnesia) was hit on the head with a crucifix and for a long period didn’t remember who she was. Now everyone knows she is Sister Mary Paul, a country singer who was the first nun to appear at the Grand Ole Opry.

n Howard Liszt is a professional actor and singer who was to appear as Tevye. Very charming and charismatic, he has an ability to relate to the audience as a standup comic. Cleanshaven (beard is removed in show.)

Auditioners are being asked to wear comfortable, loose clothing and dancing shoes for the dancing part of the auditions. People with questions about auditions may call Pinkham at 783-2246.
