BETHEL – The $55,000 locker-room project at Telstar Regional Middle/High School is finished, except for a few minor details, SAD 44 Superintendent David Murphy told the Board of Directors.

“The locker project was completed during the Christmas vacation,” said Murphy on Monday. “And it’s good to finally have it done. The old lockers had been there in both the girls’ and boys’ locker rooms since the school was built in the mid-1960s and were in very bad shape. The new lockers will serve our students for a long time.”

He said the $55,000 included removing the old lockers, purchase of the new ones and installation.

He also told the board that new carpeting has been installed in the auditorium, but he didn’t have the final cost figure for that project.

In other business, the directors approved changing the status of library educational technician Cheryl Angevine from Ed Tech II to Ed Tech III. Murphy said Angevine took a series of courses last summer and has met the requirements for state certification for the new designation.

“This gives Cheryl a chance to be more involved in library planning, planning lessons and working with projects that will help make sure we continue to provide a quality library experience for our middle and high school students,” he said.

The board hired Dawn Dugas as an Ed Tech III in the speech department and approved John Elliot Jr. for an Ed Tech III position in special education.

The board’s next meeting is scheduled at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24, in the high school library.
