FARMINGTON – One person was injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday near the Farmington Diner on Route 4.

A vehicle traveling west toward Wilton had stopped in the left lane of the four-lane highway to allow a pickup truck driven by Scott Ridley, 38, of Jay, to make a left turn into the diner, Farmington police Sgt. Peter Barton said.

The vehicle that had stopped in the left lane, Barton said, motioned Ridley to go.

Ridley’s vehicle collided with a vehicle operated by Zachery Thompson, 18, of Kingfield, which was traveling west in the right lane, Barton said. The accident was reported at 7:55 a.m.

A passenger in Ridley’s truck, Scott Whittemore, 49, address unknown, was injured and taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by ambulance, Barton said. Hospital spokeswoman Jill Gray said he was treated and released.

A passenger in Thompson’s vehicle, a 16-year-old girl, was checked by medics at the scene, Barton said.

Thompson was ticketed for using imprudent speed, Barton said. Thompson’s 1996 Honda sedan was estimated to have sustained $3,000 in damage, and Ridley’s 1989 Ford truck was estimated to have sustained $2,000 in damage, Barton said.

The Farmington Fire Rescue Department responded to the accident.
