MECHANIC FALLS – J. Lewis Littlefield, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 9.

He was born in Auburn on March 29, 1919, the son of Clarence and May Foss Littlefield.

He was married on Sept. 26, 1942, to Marjorie L. Stetson.

He worked at Crest Shoe as a cutter for 20 years but enjoyed the farm life. He later worked in the maintenance office at Bates College until his retirement.

He was active in various churches serving as treasurer, S.S. superintendent, teacher and church organist.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years; one sister, Ruth Burns of Auburn; one step-son, Kenneth R. Stetson Sr. and his wife, Maryann, of Mechanic Falls; one step-granddaughter, Robin (Stetson) Lavoie and her husband, Donald, of Buckfield; two step-grandsons, Kenneth Stetson Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Mechanic Falls, and Mark Stetson of Poland; and four step-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father and mother; one sister, Grace Dill; and one brother, Omar Littlefield.
