Child abuse is an important issue in Maine. People should never abuse children. I think child abuse is the most harmful thing on this planet.

Child abuse is neglect or harm of a child by any other person. Child abuse can happen in any ethnic group. There are four types of child abuse. One type of child abuse is physical abuse. Physical abuse is the most common type of child abuse. The second type of child abuse is emotional or verbal. The third type of child abuse is sexual. Sexual abuse is the second-most common type of child abuse. The last type of child abuse is neglect. There are many effects of child abuse, including the inability to play, lying, stealing, nightmares, an inability to concentrate, temper tantrums, grief and inability to trust. Some other effects of child abuse might be attempts to suicide, fear of being alone, bullying, fear of the dark, anger, guilt, self-doubt, self-blame, chemical abuse, depression, running away and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).

Child abuse still continues in Maine, so I want everybody to be aware of it. I also think that we should at least try to make bigger punishments for people who abuse children in Maine.
