A major concern in the United States is of the flu vaccine shortage. I think that it is kind of sad how the prices are going up for the flu vaccine. I think that we should give smaller doses to people.

According to the University of Maryland, we can give 40 percent of the full dose and will still have a good enough effect to protect us from the flu. I believe we need to do this because Canada has more vaccine than the United States of America. The lower doses have had a good effect from adults from 18 to 60 years old.

Each year about 200,000 Americans are hospitalized with the flu and we could make that a lesser number if we lower the dose. People with one of the highest risks of the flu are 65 years of age or older.

I strongly believe that we should lower the dose of the flu vaccine taken by each person. People should ask for 40 percent of the dose. That might save some lives.
