BETHEL – What good is a snood? Andy Weik knows, and he will share his information at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, in the Trustees’ Auditorium, McLaughlin Science Center, Gould Academy campus.

Weik will open this season’s Mahoosuc Land Trust Local Knowledge series.

Future dates and programs in the series include: Feb. 20, McKay Jenkins, author of “The Last Ridge: The Epic Story of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division and the Assault on Hitler’s Europe,” and other books; March 16, Tim Glidden, director of Lands for Maine’s Future Board; April 20, Jennifer Loomis, award-winning wildlife photographer and author.

Weik is a wildlife biologist with the Migratory and Upland Game and Bird Program in the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The title of his talk is “What Good is a Snood: Ecology and Management of Wild Turkeys in Maine.” It is a multimedia presentation of wild turkey ecology, restoration and turkey hunting in Maine.

The series is open to the public free.
