LEWISTON – “Sew from the Heart,” a program for sewers of all skill levels who like to make a difference in the lives of others, will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Cote Brother’s Sewing, located at the Auburn Plaza.
Brenda Weeks, a Central Maine Medical Center volunteer, will demonstrate a simple pattern for creating a stylish cap that will keep a cancer patient warm.
Pre-cut fabrics in a variety of styles and colors will be provided, or participants may bring their own. Those who do not have sewing machines may be able to use one at the store.
Those interested in participating should call CMMC oncology social worker Kerry Irish at 795-7118.
Cote Brothers will provide free patterns. Completed coverings may be dropped off at Cote Brothers or at CMMC, c/o Irish.
CMMC also accepts donations of knit caps through the Central Maine Chapter of the Heather Spoll Hair Day Hat Program. Visit www.chemocaps.com for more information.
