NORWAY – The Norway Universalist Church, UU, sermon topic for 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, will be “How a Spiritual Outlook Can Be a Balancing Stick on the Tightrope of Life,” with the Rev. Joy Gasta and Music Director Heather Pierson. All are welcome.

Walking program

NAPLES – The “Step into Fitness” indoor walking program is available at Lake Region High School. SAD 61 has opened the main floor corridor of the high school to walkers of all ages from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

There is no age limit, pace requirement or fee. “Step into Fitness” is sponsored by the local Healthy Maine Partnership.

Anyone who would like to participate in the development of a regional walking/running calendar or promoting a walking event in town should contact Carmen Lone at 647-3116 or celone@adelphia.net.

Scholarship

OTISFIELD – The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church recently awarded this year’s scholarship to Kyle Herrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Herrick of Otisfield. Herrick is a student of the University of Maine in Farmington.

The presentation was made by Scholarship Awards Committee Chairwoman Marian Culbert during a Sunday morning service, in accordance with guidelines for giving the scholarship.

The scholarship, due to the success of two fund-raising events, was $1,500.

Bridge play

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge played Jan. 14 with the following winners: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Mimi Bell and Eleanor Griffin.

Duplicate Bridge is played at 9 a.m. every Friday at the Fare Share Coop, 447 Main St. A partner is guaranteed.

A parking lot and entrance to the building are behind Fare Share. Anyone wanting more information should call Mimi Bell at 743-8081.
