NORWAY – A. Franklin Roy, 74, of Sherman, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Jan. 21.

Frank was born May 1, 1930 in Buckfield, the son of Arthur and Mildred Roy. He retired from A.C. Lawrence Leather in 1985 and prior to that he worked in the woods with his father.

Frank and his wife, Barbara spent seven years managing wilderness camps at White House Landing in Millinocket, along with good friends, Robert and June Perry. He was an avid hunter.

He was past master of Evening Star Lodge in Buckfield, past district deputy, grand master of 20th Masonic district, a member of Past Masters Unit of Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor and Molunkus Lodge 165 in Sherman. He was chairman of the School Board for S.A.D. 39 for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara of Sherman; his children, Donna and her husband, Richard Perry, of Levant, Peter and his wife, Allison Roy, of Sherman Mills, Jackie and her husband, Wayne Tays, of South Berwick, Ginny and her husband, Ralph Chamberlain, of South Paris, Fred and his wife, Darlene Roy, of Turner, and Judy Bessey of Norway; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Polly Packard, Caroline Hammond, Louise Bailey and Mildred and Jerry Black; and his stepmother, Nathalie Roy.

His brother, Eddie Packard, passed away Jan. 21, 2005.
