NORWAY – Richard I. Turner, 74, a lifetime resident of Christian Ridge Road, South Paris, died Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

He was born March 31, 1930, in South Paris, the son of Percy and Evangeline Woodworth Turner.

After graduating from Paris High School in 1949, he worked for the Town of Paris for a few years. He married Ethelyn Allen in 1950. He worked for Goodwins Dairy Shop for more than 21 years, later for Northeast Housing, and then for Oxford Homes.

He had been an active member of the Norway-Paris Jaycees, serving two years as president. He had been active in scouting, serving as a board member for Troop 190, and also as cub master for Pack 190, receiving the Scouters Key in 1972. He was a member of the South Paris Methodist Church, and was also an amateur radio operator, receiving his license in 1978, KA1BRY.

Besides his wife of South Paris, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy, and husband, Armand Bonneau, of South Paris; four sons, Percy Turner of Buckfield, Dan and wife, Kathy, of Turner, Richard Jr., of Lafayette, La., and South Paris, Timothy and wife, Wendy Turner, of Buckfield; three sisters, Frances Johnson of Paris, a special sister, Marcia Buck of South Paris, and Mary Parsons, also of South Paris; two brothers, Robert Turner of Borger, Texas, and Donald Turner of Harrison; 10 grandchildren, Heather, Amy, Casey, Kallah, Shawn, Sean, Jason, Jeremy, Landry, and Lauren; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Calby, Shane and Gennie.

He was predeceased by a sister, Glenna Gay; and a brother, Franklin Turner.
