AUBURN – Shane Hearn of Auburn, has been selected by Bauer/Nike to play for the Bauer Swarm in the World Championship of PeeWee Hockey in Quebec City from Feb. 9-21.

He is a member of the 92 Seacoast Spartan Pee-Wee Major Team of the New England Open Hockey League.

The World Championship, known as the “Q”, has been held every year since 1959 in Quebec City. It is said to be the largest youth hockey tourney in the world, drawing 116 entries from 23 countries, including Team Moscow, and other European teams, as well as North America’s top clubs. The tourney coincides with Quebec Winter Carnival Games, drawing an average of 4,000 spectators, up to 16,000 for the finals that are nationally broadcast in Canada.

The Swarm will face Team Austria, Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, and the Los Angeles Hockey Club in the opening round.
