WEST PARIS – Richard Ernest Walker, 78, of West Paris, died Feb. 2, at the Ledgeview Living Center.

Born in Bethel, May 30, 1926, the son of Allen H. and Doris (Moore) Walker, he was educated in Bethel schools and attended Gould Academy.

Richard had worked in the paper industry at Boise Cascade for more than 30 years, and had worked as a lumberjack in his younger years. Richard loved woodworking and gardening, and was a former member of the Masons, as well as a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange.

He is survived by one son, Richard A. Walker of Poulsbo, Wash.; one daughter, Diana Spelling of Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Ruth Gilbert and her husband, Arthur, of West Bethel; sisters-in-law, Hilda Wild and Lucille Wilson, both of Bryant Pond, Mary Wild of Vermont, and Jenny Walker of Bethel; brothers-in-law, Donald Wild of New York, Yves and Muriel Wild of Littleton, N.H., Earl Wild of New York, and Norman Wild of California; and four grandchildren, Nicole, Theresa, Shawna and Christina.

He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Mabel Wild Walker; one brother, Donald Walker; two brothers-in-law, Edward Wild and Edwin Wild; one sister, Merita Walker; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Wild.
