LEWISTON – Pam Averill of SeniorsPlus will be the speaker when the Lewiston Senior Citizens meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. An Alzheimer’s specialist at SeniorsPlus, she will take that as her topic.

A Valentine king and queen will be crowned during the meeting. All members and guests are invited.

Library contest

TOPSHAM – Explore geometry, engineering, architecture and the properties of marshmallows at the Topsham Public Library’s first Food for Thought Contest at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23. The winter vacation contest is open to all ages.

The task will be to build the tallest tower with toothpicks and miniature marshmallows in 25 minutes, while adhering to a few simple rules. Five age groups from preschool through adult will compete for gift certificates, live fish, books and games.

Y-Ettes to meet

LEWISTON – The YWCA Y-Ettes will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the YWCA Wade Room. Douglas Hoyt, American Red Cross executive director, will explain the functions of the organization.

Jackie O’Donnell and Betty Buchanan will take care of refreshments. All Y members are invited.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Feb. 1 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: Mary Leahey and Martine Begert; second, Dick Horne and Tom Rowe; third, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; fourth, Roger Briggs and Alberta Turner; fifth, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Roger Briggs and Alberta Turner; second, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; third, Luke Merry and Joe Reinhardt. Winners in Flight C were: first, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; tied at second, Doug and Betty Sise with Larry Fortier and Terry Gendron.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on Feb. 2 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; second, Doug Sise and Lucille Theriault; third, Tom Dahlberg and David Wallace.
