AUBURN – Edward R. Chapman, 73, of Poland, died Monday, Feb. 7, at the Odd Fellows Home in Auburn.

He was born in Dresden, a son of Florence and Fred Chapman. He was married to Phyllis Cray of Richmond.

He was self-employed as a truck driver. He was an important influence on the success of Chapman Trucking, and upon his retirement he supervised all who came through it. He was always known for his generous ways and easy laughter.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Poland; two daughters, Sharon Davis of Poland, and Gale Chapman of Poland; one son, Ed Chapman and his wife, Sharon, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Stacy Whetzel and husband, Tim, of Mechanic Falls, Steve Davis and wife, Michelle, of Poland, and Matthew Chapman of Auburn; one great-grandson, Garrison Whetzel; two sisters, Rose Boudoin, and Janice Revock; and three brothers, David Chapman, Louie Chapman, and Jerry Chapman.

He was predeceased by one sister; three brother; and a son-in-law.
