WILTON – Maine State Police investigators have put a lot of work into the search for Raymond “Butch” Weed’s killer over the last four to six weeks, Sgt. Walter Grzyb said this week.
“There is nothing new to report in terms of what can be publicly disclosed,” Grzyb said. “We are committed to this investigation and are determined to find out what happened to Mr. Weed.”
Weed was found shot to death Dec. 23, 2003, at his Wilton home. The 40-year-old contractor operated his New Horizon Builders business out of his house at 32 Main St.
Wilton’s new police chief, Wayne Gallant, said he has met with the lead investigator, state police Detective Mark Lopez, and was briefed on the case.
“We will do anything possible to solve and resolve that case,” Gallant said Thursday.
He said he hopes new thoughts and ideas will produce more information to find Weed’s killer. Weed’s family is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
