DURHAM – Marion E. Erdmann, 82, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Feb. 13, with her oldest daughter, Carole, by her side.

She was born April 3, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wis., the oldest daughter of Louis P. and Frances Chatham. Her childhood was spent in Wisconsin, where she met and married Roger F. Erdmann on Feb. 19, 1943. Roger eventually went on to serve in World War II, and became captain in the United States Coast Guard.

Marion and Roger served their family and country well, he on a ship and Marion at home. Marion has missed Roger deeply since his death in 1984; they are once again together for eternity.

Survivors include three daughters; a son; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by Carole and her husband, Dennis Flaherty, of Durham, and their three children, Shawn, Kelly and Meeghan; Greg and his wife, Pat Erdmann, of St. Louis, Mo., and four children Deanna, Greg Jr., Becky and Stephen; Barbara and her husband, Mike Inman, of Eldridge, Mo., and two children, Karey and Kristen; and Paula and her husband, Kirk Purdy, of Stavanger, Norway, and three children, Geoff, Ethan and Alex. She is also survived by her sisters, Charlotte, Audrey, Shirley, Rita, Joan, and their families, all who live in Wisconsin.

She was predeceased by a brother, Mick.
