LEWISTON – Gloria Janis Rafferty, “Auntie Glo,” 70, of Lewiston, our beloved mother, loving sister, favorite aunt and cherished friend, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Born in Kingman on Oct. 18, 1934, she was the daughter of Dennis and Della Thompson Willette. She was a 1952 graduate of Lewiston High School.

She worked for 31 years at AT&T, beginning her career as an operator and retiring in 1988 as a supervisor and instructor. After retiring, she recorded all the cemetery inscriptions in Lewiston and donated them to the Maine Franco Genealogy Society. She also did genealogy records for other parishes.

She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Andrew “Red” Rafferty, who passed away in 1994.

She had many interests but none surpassed the care and concern she showed her extensive family. She loved well, and was well loved.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Janis Rafferty of Roanoke, Va.; her brothers, George Willette and his wife, Catherine, of Lewiston, William Willette and his wife, Joan, of Wales, Michael Willette and his wife, Pauline, of Sabattus, and John Willette of Litchfield; her sisters, Lucille and husband, John Popadak, of Lisbon Falls, Delia Beaulieu of Lewiston, Patricia McNulty of Winslow, Sandra Willette of Lewiston, and Shelia Gottuso of Memphis, N.Y.; her sisters-in-law, Caroline Willette of Lewiston, Jacqueline Willette of Auburn, and Frances Roy of Winslow; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her brothers, Clarence, Manzer, Roland and Dennis Willette.
