LEWISTON – Martha Mottram Johnson, 83, of Turner Road, Auburn, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 15, at d’Youville Pavilion with her family at her side.

She was born in Auburn Nov. 3, 1921, a daughter of George W. and Leonida Riel Mottram. She was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School in 1939, and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

She also attended Pelletier’s Hairdressing School.

On Jan. 29, 1946, she married Reginald F. Johnson.

She worked many years doing office work, as she spent several years in the family business, Fernwood Dairy in Auburn. She later worked at Hall’s Market for five years, prior to spending 17 years as a cashier at Shaw’s Supermarket until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

In her free time, she enjoyed doing various crafts, especially knitting, and doing crossword puzzles.

She leaves her husband of 59 years, Reginald Johnson, of Auburn; a son, Michael F. Johnson and his wife, Anne-Marie, of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Johnson of Texas, and Thomas Johnson of California; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Triston; two sisters, Beryl Mottram of Auburn, and Geneva Beauregard and her husband, Adrien, of Lewiston; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Mottram of Auburn.

She was predeceased by a brother, George S. Mottram.
